The new hotel forms the first part of a wider regeneration plan for the area and will include demolition of three existing buildings to make way for this new mixed use development. The Hotel will include 103 guest bedrooms over 4 storeys together with bar, restaurant, gym and two ground floor retail units. In collaboration with Key Architecture, HCD Engineering and Troup Bywater + Anders the project will run for 60 weeks with completion in Spring 2017.

The £9m project has received £4.5m of funding from the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) Growing Places Fund. The fund was designed to create jobs and boost economic growth. With the existing buildings laying empty, this project will have a transformational effect on the whole area, by improving local infrastructure and creating 300 new jobs in the construction, hospitality and retail sectors.

Deepak Chainrai of DC Homes and Investments said: “This is an important day for our company, our town and our district. We are thrilled to see the project get underway at last as it has been an ambition of ours for a long time to bring this kind of quality facility to Bridgwater.”

Councillor Anne Fraser said: "Sedgemoor District Council is delighted that progress is being made on this project. The hotel, café and restaurant and attached retail will bring many jobs to the local area as well as helping to transform the Eastover part of Bridgwater Town Centre. We look forward to continuing to work closely with the project team on this very positive development."
