The project team at the Gaer Independent Living Development received fantastic support and feedback at a consultation meeting held last week.

The Gaer Consultation

Local residents attended the event hosted by Derwen Cymru and WRW and were keen to express their approval and support for the new development. Some residents demonstrated a keen interest in the scheme providing valuable feedback and raising questions. Other residents showed enthusiasm in learning more about the scheme and engaged with Site Manager Rori Williams to gain a better understanding of certain aspects of the construction process.

The design and build project at The Gaer in Newport will provide 39 new homes and a communal hub with the layout and design reflecting Derwen’s aspirations for a flagship older people’s development, whilst also meeting a clearly identified need within Newport.

The scheme is being undertaken in collaboration with Ainsley Gommon Architects, Cambria Consulting and Troup Bywater + Anders and is due for completion in the summer of next year.
