Assistant Site Manager Christopher James was awarded Student of the Year last week at the Coleg Sir Gar Built Environment Awards 2016.
Training providers and employers have joined forces with the Welsh Government to develop the model which will give construction workers the chance to become supervisors and managers within the Welsh construction industry gaining a clear route to develop their careers. The new higher apprenticeship is targeted at learners with relevant construction qualifications at level 2 or above, workers with five years’ experience working in the industry and candidates who have supervisory duties.
Christopher has now successfully completed the course in conjunction with Coleg Sir Gar Ammanford where he has been attending one day per week.
HR Director Heather Davies said: "This is a great achievement for Christopher to be recognised as Student of the Year for his positive attitude and commitment to the course. Christopher is commended for managing his work and studies over the last year and we are delighted to have a member of our team receive such recognition from Coleg Sir Gar."
