WRW completed the new Burry Port Primary School in August and handed over in time for the new school term in September. The new Community Primary school provides accommodation for 210 pupils along with a 30 space nursery class and a Flying Start crèche.

Designed by Architype LtdBingham Hall and Troup Bywater + Anders the new studio pod building is finished in locally sourced Welsh Japanese Larch and was constructed using Brettstapel. The elliptical building provides a multi-functional and open plan space for key internal circulation links between the new junior building and the existing infant building.

The new junior building is on track to achieve Passivhaus Certification and the new studio pod building has been designed and built to Passivhaus standards. The core focus of the Passivhaus standard is to dramatically reduce the requirement for space heating and cooling, whilst also creating excellent indoor air quality and comfort levels.
