WRW’s Business Administrator Nina Williams took part in the Lloyds Bank Cardiff Half Marathon last weekend completing the 13.1 mile race in just over 2 hours.
Cheered on and supported by her family she started outside Cardiff Castle in ideal weather conditions and took the route past some of Cardiff’s most iconic landmarks including; Cardiff City Stadium, Penarth Marina, Cardiff Bay Norwegian Church and Wales Millennium Centre. The course then run towards the north of the city and runners completed a loop of Roath Park Lake before the grandstand finish on North Road outside the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
Running alongside her friend Victoria Owens, they both raised over £600 for their chosen charity - Friends of Blaenau Children’s Centre. Based in Ammanford the charity offers respite care for children with learning disabilities.
This event was Nina’s first ever run of over 5k and she was extremely pleased to finish the race in this time. She is now gearing up to complete the Llanelli Half Marathon in March and is looking forward to running the Cardiff event again next year where she hopes to beat her time.
The event had its biggest success with nearly 16,000 runners competing on the day, a record breaking amount.
