A ground-breaking ceremony took place last week to mark the start of construction on the New IG Doors Manufacturing Facility in Blackwood.
Part funded by Welsh Government, this exciting project will see WRW construct a new 19,500 sq m manufacturing facility at Oakdale Business Park in Caerphilly County. The development is said to protect 140 existing jobs and eventually boost staff numbers to 400 for IG Doors who supply the house building industry with an extensive range of high performance composite external doorsets.
The new facility will be complete in time for full production capability in Q1 of 2017 and will comprise; production hall with loading areas, single storey welfare and utilities block, storage areas, control room, canteen, kitchen, meeting rooms and single storey office block. The scheme is also designed to achieve BREEAM 'Very Good' rating and will include various sustainability features.
The ground-breaking ceremony was attended by all key stakeholders including Hörmann Group Partner Christoph Hörmann, IG Doors Managing Director Mark Pulman and Knight Frank Partner, Building Consultancy Richard Wooller. Also present were representatives of Caerphilly County Borough Council and Welsh Government, The Mayor and Mayoress of Caerphilly, Cllr Keith Reynolds and Cllr Ken James and members of the design team.
